Being a big Shawn Mendes supporter, I was very excited when he announced that he was going to release the song "Youth" from his unreleased album "Shawn Mendes" as a single on May 3rd, 2018. I've been very impressed lately with his new work, his two previous singles "In My Blood" and "Lost in Japan" have had an incredible amount of success in just the first couple of days of their release. I won't be surprised if this one hits the top 10 on Spotify in a week or two. The song is about heartbreak, and I can't think of a better duo for this type of song. It's specifically about moving on and surviving an extremely hard break up. They also mention about how they will never turn their pain into hate, because let's admit it, as much as a break up hurts, we all survive in the end and getting angry is never the answer.

Before I first listened to this song, I never really paid attention to Khalids music. I had an idea of what he sounded like, but nothing drew my attention towards his music. After listening to this collaboration, I am more interested in his sound. Shawn and Khalid both have unique voices and each have their own imprint on their voices, and the two of them singing together is quite pleasing and relaxing. Their voices fit very well together.
